Leather Source- Vintage WWII Belt

text goes hereAs there are many sources for vintage watch straps, one of the most popular is the vintage belt. With unique stampings, splendid aging over time, plus colors that can't be made nowadays, the demand for these are rapidly increasing. To make a strap using this leather, you first must cut the belt at the needed length to make the watch strap. I then like to cut the width and go from there. The belts were used for every army involved with each war and the leathers were all sourced from different locations. To really get the full experience from one of these watch straps, make sure to get the right finish on the buckle. Try to match the case of your watch with the finish of the buckle, so you will have the best looking watch strap in town! (Below is an example of a watch strap made using a vintage army belt).

Strapmaking Tool Feature- Groove Tool

The Groove Tool is an important tool in creating custom watch straps.  It is a metal tool with a nice sharp tube-like curved end that actually creates the groove needed to stitch the strap together. It adjusts from 1/16" to 3/4" away from the edge of leather. This can allow you create multiple lines of stitching,  or one clean line close to the edge. The options are endless with this unique tool.
