Panerai 560 Watch Review

Are you looking to enjoy one of the most stripped-down watches from the house of Panerai without having to pay too much? Well, this one is just for you then. Panerai Luminor Base 8 Days Acciaio PAM560 is an entry-level watch that proudly boasts the powerful and all-new caliber P.5000 in-house Panerai movement.
What Does the Watch Offer?
In 2014, Panerai announced the Panerai Luminor Base 8 Days Acciaio PAM560 at an event during the SIHH, and it immediately gathered a lot of attention from the watch enthusiast communities across the globe.
However, if there was one element not appreciated by the enthusiasts, it was the sudden hike in price. This happened because Panerai decided to go with an in-house movement for their Luminor Series, which previously used to rely on movements from other sources. This decision caused the price to go up by over $1,000USD.
Let’s begin with the case. The watch offers a satin-brushed finished case with a polished finished fixed bezel with a 44m diameter. The case thickness is 13.6mm, and the material used for the case is stainless steel. Moreover, the overall case shape resembles that of a cushion. The case also comes with a brushed steel crown protector around the lugs.
The watch now features an in-house movement known as P.5000. This powerful movement features 21,600 vph. It also contains 21 Jewels and has a remarkable power reserve of 8 days. This improvement is precisely the reason behind the massive bump in the price. Still, the in-house movement goes to ascertain the credibility of the company and its dedication to the series.
The watch comes with a gorgeous yet subtle matte black dial. The dial features engraved luminous Arabic Numeral & index hour markers. The font is wider than the traditional sized used for the Luminor series. The word "Panerai" has now shifted to the top of the dial. The bottom of the dial now has the words "8 Days" engraved onto it.
Another interesting change about the dial is the inclusion of blackened steel hands with luminous fill. This design gives the watch a brand-new look while maintaining the retro elegance that the series promises.
A powerful and scratch-resistant domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating sits over the dial and protects it from harm. This crystal is quite powerful and can withstand damage over the years without losing its shine.
Other Bells and Whistles
The watch also offers an upgraded water resistance of up to 300m or 999ft. The case back is transparent and showcases the beautiful movement, p.5000.
If we move over to the watch strap, the company paired up the Panerai Luminor Base 8 Days Acciaio PAM560 with a Calfskin Leather watch strap. Moreover, you will also receive the appropriate tools to change the watch strap without damaging the watch or the lugs.
What Do We Have to Say?
The main aim of Panerai was to build a base model with an improved 8 day movement that gives the watch collector great value for the price. This, added to the wonderful history of Panerai and the Italian Navy, makes this an extremely desirable watch. There is little to no reason why one might not choose one of the superb choices within the Panerai Luminor series line.
Over the course of decades, the series has undergone many dissections, reinventions, and reiterations, and the Panerai PAM560 is a modern take on a vintage classic. As a watch enthusiast, you may want to think about getting this watch for yourself as it offers everything a watch lover could ask for.
