The Epic Archictecture of Supervillian Lairs

Posted by Daniel Luczak on 28th Apr 2017

When you think of Super Villains you don't think of them as forward thinking individuals. However, they all seem to have amazing lairs that take some extreme engineering to make happen.

Let's just take a quick look at some of my favorite super villain’s lairs.

We’ll start with probably the most well-known super villain lair. The Death Star. I can't even fathom how you engineer a planet sized ship that is completely round and can kill planets, but hey, that is above my pay grade and in a galaxy far far away.

Darth Sidious and Darth Vader really had some aspirations with that design.

Up next, Ozymandias’ rctic lair in Watchmen. First off, who do you get to build it? I don't think he is going to find a vast supply of construction workers all the way out there. Second, how can the ice work as a foundation for a building that size? Well, I'm no architect or engineer, so I will leave it to the experts but that's just who Ozzy would have had to hire, an expert.

Last on my list of favorite lairs is the Deacon's from Waterworld. The movie may not have gotten the best reviews, but it still is one of my favorites. I may be biased though as I hold a soft spot for the movie. I mean, it's a giant ship that somehow stays afloat and maintained without a dry dock to do any maintenance at. And it has been around since the world was flooded and had to be re-floated. It takes some insane amount of engineering to keep it afloat.

Well those are my top 3 favorite super villain lairs. What are yours?
