History of Hamilton
Founded in 1892 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Hamilton is one of the most important watchmaking names in the United States. In the late 19th and early 20th century, Hamilton made legendary pocket watches with movements that they produced in house. The early decades of the 20th century saw the rise of the wristwatch, and Hamilton was there, producing dress timepieces as well as officer’s field watches. During World War II, the company focused exclusively on its military business. Now based in Switzerland, Hamilton is a member of the Swatch Group and focuses primarily on accessible mechanical watches with a focus on American-inspired designs.
