Rolex GMT-Master II Ref 126720VTNR Watch Review

For its 2022 collection, Rolex has focused on what it refers to as "aviation-related timepieces." The updated Air-King and the new left-handed GMT-Master II are two particular versions designed for air passengers or pilots. Rolex opted to be unique and daring, to think outside the box, and not to be conventional this year, and it was a year of bravery and courage for the brand. This is reflected in the new Rolex GMT-Master II 126720VTNR "Destro", which delivers something unique to the audience.

What the Rolex GMT-Master II Ref 126720VTNR Watch Offers

Following the return of steel models with Oyster bands last year, many watch enthusiasts expected some GMT. The green and black bezel and crown projecting from the left side of the case give this watch a double delight. This is a "destro" watch, which means it's made for those who wear their watches on their right wrist and are left-handed.

The watch retains the basic ideas of the GMT-Master II aside from these two adjustments. It has a bi-color Cerachom bezel, a cyclops amplified date window and the choice of a Jubilee or Oyster bracelet with the EasyLink clasp adjustment mechanism.

Oystersteel Case

It's made of Oystersteel (an internal term for 904L stainless steel) and spans 40mm in diameter, 12mm in height, and 48mm from lug to lug. The case is decorated with smooth polished surfaces on top and lacquered sides, with an inbuilt crown guard protecting the Triplock screw-down crown.

Moreover, you will find anti-reflective coating on the sapphire crystal and the all-important Cyclops over the date. Furthermore, water resistance is certified at 100 meters or 330 feet, as is customary with Rolex watches.

Cerachom Bezel

A two-tone Cerachom inlay with sunken numerals and graduations finished with platinum PVD (classic) in black and green is housed inside the notched Oystersteel bi-directional frame. This color palette is a current GMT-Master II classic, yet it was employed differently in the past.

Those hoping for a return of the LN model will have to make do with the VTNR-Verte-Noire, or Green-Black – variant. The green color is similar to that of a Submariner Date 126610LV, a gentle, not too intense, mid-green hue. The GMT hand is also painted in the same color.

The dial still seems to be glossy black lacquered, with huge engraved 18k white gold hour markings and hands lined with blue Chromalight. There's a green arrow-tipped GMT hand to match the bezel's color.

What Is the Bottom Line Here?

One option to consider is the Oyster version, which comes with a 3-link steel bracelet with polished center links and outside satin links. It has an Easylink comfortable extension link and an Oysterlock folding security clasp.

This variant, like other steel GMT-Master IIs, is also offered on a 5-link, brushed, and polished Jubilee bracelet with the same Oysterlock folding security closure and Easylink comfort extension link. Both will be comfortable, and in this case, it's only an issue of style.
